Jangheung Research Institute for Mushroom Industry, Log Oak Mushroom Bread Tasting Event

The Jangheung Research Institute for Mushroom Industry announced (Jul. 25, 2003) that it held a log oak mushroom bread tasting event on Jul. 24, 2003 to develop local bread using local specialties.
Its 100 employees participated in the tasting event to check the shape and taste of the log oak mushroom bread being developed from various perspectives.
At the tasting event, various breads were introduced, including Pyogo Focaccia with Jangheung oak mushroom slices and bulgogi, Pyogo Rice Ball Bread with mushrooms and sesame, Pyogo Black Sesame Bread with log oak mushrooms and black sesame, Pyogo Honey Bread with log oak mushroom, etc.
The log oak mushroom bread types tested are being developed by the Jangheung Research Institute for Mushroom Industry in collaboration with Gwangju Women's University.
In addition, based on Jangheung's representative food, Jangheung Korean Beef Samhap (oak mushrooms, beef, pen shells), the Jangheung Samhap Bread and Samhap Burger was introduced and tested.
The Institute plans to collect opinions presented through the testing event and to hold a tasting event for visitors during the water festival.
The Mayor of Jangheung County(Kim, Seong) said, “The success of local bread will help increase the income of oak mushroom farmers and revitalize the local economy,” and added, “We will receive various testing results from tourists who visit the water festival.”
